Troy L. Hartman
Troy began his career as an intern in the business 20 years ago, and has witnessed a rapid expansion of the life insurance industry from the early 1990s to its dominance in the early 2000s. Throughout his career, he has learned from and engaged with many of the leaders who helped spur that growth. Those mentors and colleagues heavily influenced Troy’s perspective on leadership and team building, and paved the way for him to help guide ExamOne into a position of industry leadership.
Troy has participated in almost every corner of the life insurance business. From running call centers to managing national sales teams to overseeing major IT infrastructure initiatives. His holistic view of the industry gave him the window to see a unique opportunity in the life insurance space and the ability to transition LabOne from just a lab to a full-service, integrated, supply-chain provider.
Today, Troy sees the business at a crossroads, as life insurance trends in general are pointing downward. He is passionate about the life insurance industry, and believes strongly that the endeavor is noble. His ultimate goal? To help ensure that every family in America has the right amount of life insurance.
In addition to his passion for life insurance, Troy has also expanded his focus to help optimize collection services of three other Quest Diagnostics divisions: Employer Solutions, Blueprint for Wellness and MediCheck. These divisions specialize in drug testing, employer-sponsored wellness programs and Medicare Advantage clinical risk assessment. These collection services benefit from the coverage, expertise and services of the ExamOne collection network as well as access to Quest Diagnostics' network of 6,000 collection sites.
Betsy Sears, MSM, MT(ASCP)
ExamOne Executive Vice President, Sales Support & Client Solutions
Betsy has had the privilege of working in the medical testing industry since its inception 27 years ago. During her first few months as a supervisor at LabOne, Betsy wrote lab procedures, managed inspections and recruited staff - essentially building and growing one of the first insurance laboratories in the country from scratch.
Since then, Betsy has had the opportunity to see the life insurance industry evolve dramatically. When ExamOne acquired LabOne, she had a front row seat as they built a paramedical offering to conduct lab-based tests. Betsy's current role allows her to be in the lab most days, close to the science she loves. She spends a lot of time analyzing what specific companies are testing for and what kinds of tests they conduct. When she is not doing research, she works as a subject matter expert and a liason between the ExamOne sales team, internal employees, clients and the laboratory. She helps clients better understand the benefits of our holistic and integrated approach to medical testing, and leads the day-to-day vision and execution of ExamOne products with clients.
Betsy received her B.S. degree in Medical Technology from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and her Master’s degree in Business Management from Baker University. Betsy has 2 sons, 2 dogs and 1 husband, not necessarily listed in order of importance. When she is not working, Betsy enjoys cooking, golf and traveling to see her sons perform.
Jim Palmier, MD, MPH, MBA, CEBS
ExamOne Vice President and Medical Director
Dr. Jim Palmier's career path has taken him from being a practicing clinician to a managing physician, and ultimately to a senior executive in the corporate healthcare space. He practiced Emergency Medicine at the Medical Center of Delaware, and did his fellowship in Occupational Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health.
His first major foray into corporate medicine was in the early 1990s at Mobil (now ExxonMobil), where he oversaw numerous medical clinics at the refinery and chemical plants near Beaumont, Texas. This included managing the medical welfare of pipeline workers and oil rig workers, as well as their families.
Since leaving ExxonMobil, Dr. Palmier worked to support sales, marketing, informatics and customer relations for numerous compaies. He had several executive positions at GlaxoSmithKline (formerly SmithKlineBeechum), including corporate occupational medicine, managed-care relations and wellness.
About 10 years ago, Dr. Palmier found himself at an interesting crossroads in his career path. By continuing down the executive path, he feared he would stray further away from the day-to-day management of medical operations and the direct customer interactions that he enjoyed. So, he switched tracks. He wanted to stay close to the science, and make the greatest impact on people that he could.
As Medical Director, Dr. Palmier oversees medical affairs, laboratory testing, research and development, and paramedical services. His focus on informatics and data-driven insights help the company to continue to create innovative solutions that solve real-world problems, as well as, to drive shareholder value.
Dr. Palmier obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Public Health (MPH) at the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health. Dr. Palmier’s Doctor of Medicine came from the State University of New York – Upstate Medical Center. He is residency-trained and board-certified by the American Boards of Emergency and Preventive Medicine.
