Our History

Since 1972, we have served the life insurance industry as the leader in risk assessment testing for life insurance companies. We trace our history to Home Office Reference Laboratory, which was bought by the former Business Men’s Assurance Co. of America (BMA) in 1983 and was known as LabOne from 1993 until the acquisition of LabOne by Quest Diagnostics in November 2005.

As part of Quest Diagnostics, LabOne’s Insurance Services Group and ExamOne consolidated brands. Under the name ExamOne, a Quest Diagnostics Company, our combined companies continue to offer the most integrated supply chain of services to the insurance industry (laboratory testing, paramedical exams, teleunderwriting, medical records retrieval, inspection reports, data products, etc.). Lenexa, Kansas remains the home of insurance laboratory testing and services.
