Now consumers can opt-in to receive text notification when laboratory results are available

September 24, 2020

ExamOne, a Quest Diagnostics company, recently updated the electronic laboratory slip which allows consumers to opt-in with ExamOne for texting notifications. A field to collect the consumer’s mobile phone number and a TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act) consent to authorize ExamOne to contact them via text message were added to the electronic laboratory slip.

For clients participating in ExamOne’s online laboratory results program Inside Look®, applicants will receive a text message when their results are ready if they supply their cell phone number and sign a TCPA opt-in consent on the laboratory slip during the exam. After the applicant receives the “welcome” text message, they will get a second text that will include a link to the results. Following the instructions in the link, and engaging in the two-factor authentication process, the Inside Look report will display on their device.

“We are very excited to give life insurance consumers the option to access their laboratory results via text during the life insurance exam process,” said Joey Grant, ExamOne President. “This enhancement will improve consumer experience by making it even easier for consumers to get a closer look into their current health. We anticipate seeing an increase in consumers viewing their laboratory results through Inside Look.”

“Thanks for bringing this value-added service to the market and enhancing the customer experience during the most challenging business environment in my memory,” stated Raymond D Spears, FALU, FLMI, Senior Vice President & Chief Underwriting Officer, Ohio National Financial Services. “We are very excited to provide this simple, easy-to-use text messaging process to place a personalized wellness report into the hands of our customers.”

Later this year, ExamOne will make the same updates to the paper version of the laboratory slip to allow consumers to opt-in for Inside Look text results.

With 9 out of 10 consumers saying they want to communicate with businesses through text message and with open rates of 98%, communicating with life insurance applicants via text can help ensure a more effective and engaging experience.
