Life Insurance Awareness Month: The value of knowing your loved ones are protected

August 31, 2017

September is Life Insurance Awareness Month. Now, more than ever, it’s important to remind the public of the value of life insurance. According to the 2017 Insurance Barometer study, 41% of Americans still do not have any life insurance. With the nonprofit foundation Life Happens*, we are committed to educating individuals on the necessary steps to protect their family with life insurance.

Making a difference by sponsoring a scholarship

To create more awareness of the security life insurance provides, ExamOne is proud to sponsor a scholarship through Life Happens this year. The foundation receives hundreds of applications each year from students sharing their stories on how life insurance affected them–either through the benefit or the lack of it. Our leadership team will begin to review a selection of candidates and will choose a winner to receive a $5,000 college scholarship. “We are honored to participate in such an important program and hope it will make a difference in the next chapter of these young lives,” said Troy Hartman, ExamOne President.

Breaking through barriers to protect more families

ExamOne is committed to supporting our partners in the insurance industry by helping the public understand the value and importance of life insurance. Together we can help eliminate some of the barriers preventing individuals from applying for coverage.

The 2017 Insurance Barometer study revealed that one reason many put off buying life insurance was based on the belief that it costs too much. The average respondent overestimated the cost of a policy to be more than three times the actual cost. Millennials, in particular, gave high estimates of the cost of life insurance. Knowing life insurance is affordable is the first step to help individuals make the important decision to protect loved ones.

Educating individuals on the ease of applying for life insurance also helps break down perceived barriers. Our website for life insurance applicants, MyExamOne.com, is an informative resource that helps explain the health exam process, answers common questions and provides instructions on how to access laboratory results online.** Through Inside Look®, individuals have access to their laboratory results that provide valuable knowledge to aid in better understanding current health status–empowering healthy lifestyle changes if needed.

“ExamOne has always been committed to assisting people with every step of the life insurance examination process,” said Troy. “Life Insurance Awareness Month is a time where we can encourage individuals to make life insurance a priority and help them know the true value it provides. Many go without or don’t understand their need for life insurance until after it is too late. Our goal is to help them realize the importance of life insurance and to help break down any barriers in their way of protecting loved ones.”
